Lewdness

Lewdness, 2004, for tape

Lewdness is a dramatic electro-acoustic composition for three voices, each presenting a text. These texts were written by different authors in different times of Hebrew literature history – Song of All Songs (900BC); You and I (Alexander Pen, 1940); When You Come (Yona Wallach 1983). Edited into a conversation, they unmask various sexual perversities and the reification of women through the history of mankind.

The thin lines separating well-known musical elements such as melody and noise or musical silence and absolute silence, bares a very narrow space to host the orgy of sadistic, masochistic, exhibitionistic and  fetishistic voices that flourish in this suffocating strip, turning the repulsive into a newly conceived beauty.
