on July 30, 2012, the trial of three members of “Pussy Riot” were charged with “premeditated hooliganism performed by an organized group of people motivated by religious hatred or hostility”. They faced possible sentences of up to seven years imprisonment. Activists from all over the world uploaded videos of themselves, carrying signs “Free Pussy Riot”, taken in public places.
